Privacy Policy

TokGhost (“we,” “us,” “our,” or “TokGhost”) operates tokghost.com (the “Service”), a set of free browser-based tools for viewing and downloading public TikTok content anonymously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Service, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using TokGhost, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

We wrote this policy to actually be read, not just filed away. If anything here is unclear, our Contact page is the fastest way to ask.

1. The Short Version

TokGhost does not require an account, does not ask for your name or email to use any tool, and does not store a searchable history of the usernames you look up or the files you download. We collect only the minimum technical data needed to run the service reliably and securely, and we do not sell personal data to advertisers or data brokers.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

To be specific about what TokGhost never asks for or stores:

3. Information We Do Collect

Like virtually every website, TokGhost’s servers and infrastructure automatically collect a limited set of technical information necessary to deliver the service and keep it secure. This includes:

3.1 Standard Server Logs

Our hosting infrastructure automatically logs standard web request data, including IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring page, pages visited on tokghost.com, and timestamps. This is standard practice for essentially all websites and is used for security monitoring, diagnosing errors, and understanding aggregate traffic patterns (for example, how many people visited the site today, not who specifically visited).

3.2 Cookies and Similar Technologies

TokGhost uses a limited number of cookies and similar local storage technologies for the following purposes:

You can disable cookies through your browser settings at any time. Disabling essential cookies may affect how well some tools function; disabling analytics or advertising cookies will not affect your ability to use the core tools on the site.

3.3 Information You Voluntarily Provide

If you contact us directly — for example, through our Contact page or by email — we receive whatever information you choose to include in that message, such as your email address and the content of your inquiry. We use this only to respond to you and do not add it to any marketing list without your separate, explicit consent.

4. How We Use Information

The limited data described above is used only for the following purposes:

5. Third-Party Services

TokGhost relies on a small number of third-party services to operate. These providers may process limited technical data as part of delivering their service to us:

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not share identity-linked search history with advertisers, data brokers, or any other party.

6. TikTok Content and Third-Party Data

TokGhost’s tools retrieve and display content that TikTok account holders have already made publicly available. This publicly available content is not TokGhost’s property and remains subject to TikTok’s own terms and the rights of the original creator. When you view or download public TikTok content through our tools, you are responsible for using that content lawfully — see our Terms of Service and Disclaimer for details on acceptable use.

7. Data Retention

Because TokGhost does not require accounts and does not build identity-linked search histories, there is very little personal data to retain in the first place. Standard server logs (Section 3.1) are retained only for the period necessary for security monitoring and diagnostics, after which they are automatically purged or aggregated in a form that no longer identifies an individual visitor. Messages sent through our Contact page are retained only as long as needed to resolve your inquiry, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.

8. Children’s Privacy

TokGhost is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because our tools do not require account creation or personal information to function, we do not knowingly gather identifying data from any user, including minors. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information (for example, through the Contact form), please reach out through our Contact page so we can address it.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding any personal data we hold about you, which — given our minimal-data approach — is typically limited to contact-form correspondence and standard technical logs. These rights can include the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data, and the right to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us through our Contact page and we will respond as required by applicable law.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or a jurisdiction with similar data protection law, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to request deletion; given that TokGhost does not sell personal information, most CCPA “opt-out of sale” provisions do not apply to how we operate.

10. Data Security

We use industry-standard technical measures — including encrypted connections (HTTPS) between your browser and our servers — to protect the limited data we do process. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and while we work to protect information within our control, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. International Users

TokGhost is accessible globally, and by using the Service you understand that your information may be processed on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the United States or other jurisdictions where our infrastructure providers operate. We take steps to ensure any such processing complies with applicable data protection law.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the tools we offer, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of TokGhost after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

13. Legal Basis for Processing (EEA/UK Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, our legal basis for processing the limited technical data described in this policy is generally one or more of the following: our legitimate interest in operating, securing, and improving the Service; your consent, where required (for example, for non-essential cookies, which you can manage through your browser or a cookie consent tool where presented); and compliance with our legal obligations. Because TokGhost does not require account creation, most processing falls under the legitimate-interest and consent bases described here rather than contract performance.

14. Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) setting. Because there is no single, universally adopted standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals, TokGhost does not currently change its behavior in response to DNT browser signals. You can still limit tracking through your browser’s cookie settings and any ad personalization controls offered by third-party advertising providers, as described in Section 3.2.

15. Data Breach Notification

In the unlikely event of a data security incident that affects personal information we hold, we will take reasonable steps to investigate the incident, mitigate its impact, and notify affected users and/or relevant regulatory authorities as required by applicable law. Given how little personal data TokGhost collects by design, the scope of any such incident would be limited to technical logs and any contact-form correspondence on file at the time.

16. Automated Decision-Making

TokGhost does not use your personal data to make automated decisions that produce legal effects concerning you or similarly significant effects. Our tools retrieve and display publicly available TikTok data based on the username or link you provide — this is a direct, on-request lookup, not a profiling or automated-decision process applied to you as an individual.

16.1 A Note on Advertising Networks and Personalized Ads

If TokGhost displays ads through a network such as Google AdSense, that network may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to TokGhost and/or other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting the Digital Advertising Alliance’s opt-out page, where available in your region. Opting out of personalized ads does not mean you will see fewer ads overall — it means the ads you see will be less tailored to your browsing activity.

16.2 Aggregated and De-Identified Data

We may use aggregated, de-identified data derived from usage of the Service (for example, “X% of visitors used the Video Downloader tool this month”) for internal analysis, product planning, or general reporting. This aggregated data does not identify any individual user and is not considered personal information under applicable privacy law.

17. Contact Us

If you have questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or how TokGhost handles data, please reach out through our Contact page. We aim to respond to all privacy-related inquiries within a reasonable timeframe.
